What a friend we have in Jesus

To live the rest of my days with this reality, that the Creator of the universe offers me everlasting friendship, the purest kind.

My heart brims over with reverence because who am I that He is mindful of me? That He cares for me and every delicate detail of my life. Each day, I find that the longing in my heart for communion is nothing compared to the longing in His— Lord, I do not want to miss Your touch.

All our sins and griefs to bear

The weight of my sins, the stains of my sins, He has taken them all. His blood still speaks for me. That He has taken away my crimson garment and clothed me in the pristine robe of purity. That He has cleansed me of my sins, acquainted me with the Father, and crowned me with eternal life.

What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer

Whether I kneel at my bedside, sit or stand, lie awake in my bed, whisper or speak aloud, He hears the spoken and unspoken prayers of my heart because He is near. My prayers do not need refining because grace finds expression in my broken prayers, still.

O what peace we often forfeit, O what needless pain we bear, All because we do not carry everything to God in prayer

You do not leave me how You find me. You do not leave me where You find me. You lead me to the cross where I can lay my needless pains for Your peace. You lead me to the garden of grace, to the pastures where still waters run deep. It is here I learn the art of stillness, it is here striving ceases.

In Your presence, I am enveloped in a peace that transcends all understanding. At Your right hand are eternal pleasures that satisfy, the promised rest for this burdened heart.

So this is my reality, that I have tasted of the purest, truest of friendships. Thank You for Your friendship, Jesus.
